Lake Colbún(Reads: 383, since 23-Jun-2011) It is 45 km from Talca heading towards the Andes Mountains. There is a road that goes around the lakeside where you will see summer houses, accommodation and camping facilities.
The lake is a concentration of artificial water with a surface area of 57 km2, where the River Maule’s water is enclosed and it forms part of the electrical complex Colbún-Machicura, which was opened in 1985 and is used for irrigation and the production of hydroelectric energy. Travelling further along the lakeside you will reach the town Colbún Alto and the ‘main reservoir’, which belongs to Lake Colbún where the River Maule is enclosed and becomes narrower. You can practise water sports in Lake Colbún and spend an enjoyable day at the beach.
