Places to Visit around Linares(Reads: 455, since 12-Jun-2010)San Antonio This rural settlement is located 4km to the west of Linares on the San Antonio – Embalse Ancoa road. It is famous for its “Fiestas Patrias” celebrations in September. On the 12 of October for ‘Dieciocho Chico’ the Linares Flying Club offers flights to the public. Termas de Catillo These hot springs are located 25km from Parral and 55km from Linares. They sit at 320m above sea level in the Andean foothills surrounded by native vegetation. There are good facilities and outdoor swimming pools with thermal waters which are open to the public between December and April. El Melado Tourist attraction located 50km from Linares. Rari Rari is a small town located 23km east of Linares. It is well known for its unique brightly coloured handicrafts - small animals made of horsehair and plant fibres. You can visit shops to buy these handicrafts as well as the homes of the artisans who make them (their houses are located along one side of the street). Baños de la Monja These hot springs are located 4km to the west of thePanimávida Hot Springs. To get there take the unsealed road which passes by Rari. The beautiful landscape of the Andean foothills is perfect for camping, picnics, hiking, fishing and hunting. You can also enjoy the natural vegetation, the swimming pools which are constantly fed by the springs and the therapeutic mud baths. There are changing rooms, showers and parking. Colbún Machicura This Hydroelectric Power Station which is located 32km to the northwest of Linares has two beautiful man-made lakes where visitors can do water sports, fish, camp, and have picnics, as well as enjoying the local flora and fauna. Access is via a paved road.
