Parral(Reads: 26, since 12-Jun-2010)Parral is located 42km from Linares and was founded on the 27th of April 1795. The famous Chilean poet Pablo Neruca was born here and the town also has the honour of being the country’s main rice producer. The area’s rich soils provide the national rice industry with approximately 60% of its grains. The area is also well known for its handmade leather goods (saddles, reins and other cowboy paraphernalia) which are particularly sought out at Chile’s most important rodeos. Places to Visit in Parral: Catillo Thermal Baths: Located 25km from Parral the baths sit at 320m above se level and enjoy a temperate climate. The waters have a temperature of 35°C and their mineral properties help in the treatment of conditions affecting the urinary tract, the bladder and the intestines as well as breathing conditions and nervous disorders. The baths are open between December and April. Bullilleo Reservoir: This manmade reservoir sits 52km from Parral in the beautiful Andean foothills surrounded by a variety of native flora. You can swim and fish in the clear waters of the Bullileo River. You can also camp on the banks or try out some adventure sports. Digua Reservoir: This reservoir is located in the Andean foothills 41km from Parral and you can sail, swim and fish for trout and silversides. Lake Amargo: You can hire boats to go fishing here. The setting is very beautiful and peaceful and there is a lot of beautiful native vegetation. The lake is located 65km west of Parral. El Salto de Parral Aerodrome: This is a good option for pilots who fly in the area and who are looking for a new place to fly. La Balsa: Located 70km from Parral this is a beautiful location for fishing and horseriding. There are also cabins available for rent. There are native forests, rivers, lakes and thermal baths nearby.
