Colbún

It is 24 km from Linares. The city was founded on 30th December in 1927.

The district was originally called Panimávida and was founded on 6th May 1906.

It has become known for its energy which has made it the main district in the central zone in terms of progress. The area has two large artificial lakes which feed the Colbún - Machicura and San Ignacio electric power stations.

In terms of physical – recreational and cultural activities it offers excellent thermal baths and first class tourist attractions with the regional handcrafts in Rari and the Quinamávida weavers. Agricultural production in the area is strong in the areas of fruit and flower exports and forestry.
