Longaví(Reads: 74, since 25-Ene-2011)Situated 17 km from Linares and founded on 27th December in1937.
It holds onto the roots of its primitive name ‘longovilo o longovilu’, which in mapudungun means snake’s head. This fertile, farming district in the province of Linares, birthplace of the famous President of Chile, Arturo Alessandri Palma, has a wide variety of agriculture and has now incorporated fruit farming into its economy. The town is145 metres above sea level, in the foothills of the Andes. It is an area of flat land with a lush natural beauty and offers thermal baths, presided over by the snowcapped Longaví. There are plans for the latter to be developed into a future winter tourism centre. It is an excellent destination for tourism, adventure sports, ecotourism and climbing.
