Where to go in Llanquihue?

Monument in honour of the 'Usern Ahnen' Ancestors
This monument was erected in 1937 in honour of the first German settlers. It consists of a stone wall and bronze plaques engraved with the names of 80 settlers.


To get to this area you need to follow the road from the Club Alemán (German Club) and if you go further on beyond the paved section you will be able to visit Totoral and the afore mentioned monument.


Llanquihue Cold Meat Factory

This was founded in 1911 and has become a famous landmark in Llanquihue town. The factory consists of over 18 000 m2 of buildings and modern facilities.


Philippi Port

This is a bay located north of the city.


German Gymnastic Club 

To get here, you take Baquedano Street from the city centre heading north, then you will pass the train station, the fire station and end up at the Gymnastic Club. 


This is where the annual traditional Bierfest or Beer Festival is held every last weekend in January.  


Llanquihue Beach

Llanquihue beach has a wooden pier 107 m long which serves as a jetty for incoming boats.  


You will see a sculpture of two black-necked swans testifying to the prolonged existence of these beautiful animals characteristic to this region. 


River Maullín

This is one of Llanquihue’s main attractions, as well as Lake Llanquihue, and it has beautiful vegetation and scenery. It stretches over 85 km and ends in the Pacific Ocean. In the general vicinity you can go fishing, swimming, bird watching or even bath in some pools along the route.

The river flows downstream for 12 km and you can access this area via the Llanquihue bridges by boat.


You will be able to enjoy the natural surroundings and the immense diversity of flora and fauna. You can see wild ducks, coypus and salmon in the clear patches of the riverbed as well as crows searching for food on the riverbanks, sea gulls and wild ducks wandering around. The River Maullín ecosystem is home to 52% of all Chilean bird species.


Boats take tourists to the waterfalls known as Tres Piernas (Three legs) and to the pools, either to swim or to fish.
