Puerto Aisén(Reads: 1628, since 23-Ene-2004)Puerto Aisén (population approximately 14,000), stands on the banks of the Río Aisén, 1,625 km south of Santiago and 67 km northwest of Coihaique. The majority of service provision for the Chilean archipelago is currently concentrated in this town.
It was originally founded in 1914 as a port with the pier and warehouses of a cattle-raising company, which was the activity around which the town was organized in the 1920s. One of the many attractions you can visit in the area is the Laguna San Rafael, since Aisén is the main departure point for this and other tourist destinations in the Region.
