Pirque in the language of the Mapuche means ‘man of the earth’. The town lies 20 km from Santiago on the south bank of the Río Maipo, which flows down from the lower ridges of the Andes and has an all year round temperature of 14º C.

In addition to recreation centers, you can visit architectural attractions such as the church of La Puntilla, the parish buildings of the Santísimo Sacramento de Pirque and the Cristo Negro. You can also tour the most prestigious vineyards of the country and visit handicraft centers and rodeo rings, known as medialunas.

The many natural tourist attractions of Pirque are set in a tranquil environment. One of the most beautiful spots is the Reserva Nacional Río Clarillo, which provides a good example of the native woodland of the central section of the Andes. It has picnic areas, roofed structures for barbecues and natural pools for bathing in. It is open every day.

The Escuela Agroecológica, located 2 km from the center of Pirque, in Avenida Virginia Subercaseaux is also worth a visit. You can take a guided tour of the installations and there are various products for sale.
