This copper mine belongs to Codelco and Phelps Dodge. It is an open-cast mine, and the ore has a legal standard concentration of 0.55%. It is located 4,000 meters above the sea level.

It began operations in 1997, initially producing 115,000 tons of copper cathodes. It is hoped to reach a production of 225,000 tons within 17 years.
Visits are allowed on Thursdays but you have to book in advance.
