This municipality on the border with Bolivia has 433 inhabitants. It is located at an altitude of 3,696 meters, 194 km from Calama and 25 km from Cosca, on the edge of the Salar de Ollagüe.

The higher ground rises to mountains and volcanoes with an average altitude of 5,000 meters above sea level. The climate is generally harsh in comparison with the rest of the country.

Ollagüe is a border post with Customs office, Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero and a border police station. It has basic services and a well-equipped tourist hostel.

You can visit the Museo Antropológico Leandro Bravo where there is a collection of ethnographic and archeological objects of the native peoples. The museum is open from Monday to Friday between 08.00 and 19.00 hrs.
