(Reads: 279, since 17-Mar-2011)

This is 180 kilometres northeast of Copiapó and 3 756 metres above sea level. It consists of a lakeside desiccation covering an approximate surface area of 8 000 hectares.
The climate in this sector is dry and cold, which produces snowfalls and strong winter winds and as a result, typical mountain vegetation, predominantly low-lying pastures.

The animals which inhabit this area are typically birds like parinas or flamingos, red gartered coots and wild ducks.
