Dos Lagunas Natural Monument

You can reach this area by continuing 22 km down the international road which leads to Coihaique Alto. Its 181 hectares take you from the deciduous forests of Aisén to the Patagonian steppe.

Among the many species of trees and plants typical of this area are the Ñirre, Calafate, Lenga, Frutillar and Pasto miel. With regard to wildlife, birds of particular interest in this region include the Carpintero negro (Magellanic woodpecker), Pitío, Cachaña, Zorzal, the royal duck and the black-necked swan. It is also possible to spot mammals such as the colorado fox, skunks and armadillos.

In this area you can also visit the El Toro and Escondida lakes. There is a small beach and pleasant spots for camping and picnics, and there is also a signed path 5 km long for those who enjoy hiking
