Illapel is situated 60 km northeast of Los Vilos, 255 km south of Ovalle, 316 km south of La Serena and 281 km from Santiago. You can get there:

By Car:

From La Serena travel south on the Carretera Ruta 5 Norte towards the turnoff to Illapel at km 242. From the junction, it’s a further 57 km along ruta D-85. If you are coming from the south, you should take Ruta 5, northbound, to the same junction.

By Bus:

There are frequent departures every day from the villages in the surrounding areas, and from Santiago. Contact local terminals for timetables and information.
