Salamanca
Located 32 km southeast of Illapel, in the valley of the river Choapa, this is a booming city surrounded by fertile countryside, with a beautiful resort and interesting religious buildings.

It was founded in 1884, on smooth slopes at the foot of the hills. Its design is typical, with a beautiful plaza in the center. You should visit the Caseríos (Country Mansions) de Higuerillo and the Church of the Rosa Mística (Mystic Rose), Panguecillo and Quelén Bajo, with a sanctuary framed in large reeds.

Mincha
Located to the east of Illapel, past Cuz Cuz and Tunga, this town was founded thanks to some gold rocks mined during the 17th Century, on the north bank of the Choapa river.
