Los Andes

Los Andes is situated 135 km from Santiago. It was founded in 1791 with the name Santa Rosa de los Andes. Nowadays it has 55,000 inhabitants.

During your visit you should see the Plaza de Armas, the Governor’s Residence, declared a National Monument, the Santa Rosa Church, the former Station, the former Monastery of the Holy Spirit and its Historic Museum, and the traditional ceramic factories.

From Los Andes you should also take a trip to the Termas del Corazón (Thermal Springs of the Heart) and the Sanctuary of Santa Teresa de los Andes, home of the Monasterio de las Madres Carmelitas Descalzas (Convent of the Barefoot Carmelite Nuns), amongst other attractions of the region.
