North

This zone mostly consists of the Atacama Desert and it is here that one can be observe the “Flowering Desert” phenomenon, when the dessert is turned into a sea of colours. Because of its clear skies, there are important astronomical observatories in the region. The interesting Elqui valley and cities like Copiapó and La Serena also form part of this zone.
