Osorno is 913 km from Santiago and stands at the confluence of the Rahue and Damas rivers. With a population of 128,340, it is the gateway to numerous recreational areas, lakes and mountains, located to the east and southeast, as well as to the National Parks that are on the other side of the Andes.

Whilst visiting it is worth seeing the Mirador de Rahue, the Feria Libre de Rahue, the Fuerte María Luisa, the Museo y Archivo Histórico and the Iglesia Catedral San Mateo Apóstol. If you walk down Calle Mackenna, you will appreciate the various 19th century homes that have been declared National Monuments.

One of the main economic industrial activities of Osorno is the production of cheeses and dairy products.
