Bernardo O’Higgins National Park

(Reads: 1813, since 23-Ene-2004)

This is the most extensive park in Chile and was created in 1969. In 1985 its area was extended, bringing it up to a total of 3,525,901 hectares.

The Park is made up of the Campos de Hielo Sur, the Campos de Hielo Dr. Juan Bruggen and the Campo de Hielo Patagónico, which together cover 1,100,500 hectares.

Excursions by sea through the park are possible in order to see the fiords and glaciers between Seno de Última Esperanza and the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers.

You can access the park by taking one of the tours offered in Puerto Natales or Puerto Montt.
