Quemchi

Located on the north coast of the island of Chiloé, 144 km from Puerto Montt and 1,167 km from Santiago. This is an attractive town with picturesque streets.

During your visit you should take a walk along the seaside promenade, and visit the Municipal Fabric Factory. Also famous are the miniature boats you can buy, made by a craftsman living in the area. Also worth a visit is the mausoleum of the Coloane family, where the writer Francisco Coloane, winner of the National Prize for Literature, was born.

The town has a library and a museum, both located in the center. To one side are the craftsmen who use natural fibers and dyes.

The activities that sustain the town are fishing and agriculture, as well as the presence of the salmon industry.
