Las Araucarias Sky Center

The Ski Center is on the lower slopes of Volcán Llaima, in a sector known as Los Paraguas. One of its most attractive features is the forest of ancient araucarias.

There are two drag-lifts, and slopes suitable for skiers of all types. The center has a coffee shop, with ski hire and instructors during the season, and you can stay in the Las Araucarías hut.

Access from Temuco is via Cajón and Cherquenco. From Temuco to Cherquenco is 60 km on paved roads, and from there to the Ski Center is another 23 km by gravel road.

Four-wheel-drive vehicles should be used to go to the Center. For normal vehicles the use of chains is obligatory from the CONAF control point.
