Caleta El Loa
This beach is 90 km north of Tocopilla. It is an alternative, coastal route to Iquique. The beach is suitable for fishing, and is reached by a paved road.

Mina Fakir Beach
This beach is 72 km north of Tocopilla. It is a resort surrounded with beautiful countryside and important morphological conformations, with a wide area of white sand. It is suitable for swimming and is reached by a gravel road.

Caleta Punta Arenas
This beach is located 39 km north of Tocopilla. Traditional fishermen benefit from its mild climate. It is suitable for fishing and is reached by a gravel road.

Caleta Paquita
This beach is located 28 km north of Tocopilla. It offers an impressive view from its cliffs, it is suitable for fishing and is reached by a gravel road.

Punta Atala Beach
This beach is found 24 km south of Tocopilla. There’s interesting littoral fauna to see here. It’s an excellent beach for swimming, and there are also some seafood stalls here. It’s suitable for fishing, bathing and water sports. It’s reached by a gravel road.

Punta Blanca Beach
This beach is located 12 km from Tocopilla. It is a family resort with a pleasant campsite. You can find Pre-Colombian seashells here. The beach is suitable for fishing and water sports, and is reached by a gravel road.

Caleta Boy Resort
This beach is found to the extreme south of Tocopilla. It is a very busy place because of its easy access. This resort’s facilities include a natural swimming pool, restaurant and entertainments. There is public transportation, kiosks, parking, showers and washrooms. The beach is suitable for fishing, sports and bathing, with lifeguards.

Las Conchuelas Beach
This beach is located 32 km south of Tocopilla. It is covered with shells belonging to different types of marine mollusks. It is suitable for fishing, and is reached by an asphalt road in good condition.

Gatico Beach
This beach is located 60 km south of Tocopilla. It is and old waterway and loading port. You can fish here, and it’s reached by an asphalt road in good condition.

Michilla
Here there is a copper cathode mining plant, situated 20 km from Cobija. From here you will see the road that climbs the coastal mountain range, forming a clear zigzag pattern, where the group of mines of the Michilla District are found.

Gatico
In Pre-Columbian times it was a waterway used by the chango people, and later on, a Bolivian cove. Then in 1907 the parish based in Cobija was moved here. The Guest House is still preserved, with a viewpoint on the third floor.

María Elena Saltpeter Office
This was the first nitrate works to use the Guggenheim system of producing nitrate, in 1926. The Municipal Anthropological Museum stands in the town, where there are reminders of the age of the peak of nitrate production.

Chacabuco Saltpeter Office
This nitrate works was built between 1922 and 1924, on the site of the old Lastenia Nitrate Works. It functioned until 1940.

It was declared a National Historical Monument on July 26 1971 with the aim of safeguarding the evidence of what was then the development of the saltpeter industry in Chile.

Francisco Puelma Saltpeter Office
It used to be called Carmen Alto Nitrate Works and was one of the most important saltpeters of the time, thanks to the amount it could produce.

Only the outer walls and the cemetery now remain. In the past, the number of inhabitants reached 4,800, forming a well-organized settlement. They used slabs taken from the crust of the salt flat to make their homes.

Quillagua
This is an oasis located on the bed of the river Loa. There is a settlement with crops growing here. There is also a church, an old station and a railway bridge, as well as a museum with an exhibition about the archeology of the area.

Sloman Reservoir
Located on the narrow littoral platform of the coastal mountain range, 120 km from Tocopilla and 186 km north of Antofagasta.
