Tourist Guide

Villarrica

Volcán Villarrica
Located 87 km southeast of Temuco and 27 km from Pucón, this city was founded in 1552 by Gerónimo de Alderete, with the intention of exploiting the gold washing areas and funding a winter pass towards the pampas and the Atlantic.

Villarrica lies on the banks of the lake of the same name, and it’s a place many tourists pass through on the way to Pucón, Lican Ray and the Villarrica volcano.

You should visit Avenida Costanera, the Mapuche Fair, the Mapuche Cultural Trade Fair, the Museum and the Cathedral.

Activities are centered around the summer months, between January and March, when the influx of tourists rises.
