Virtual Historical Museum Chile's Childhood

(Reads: 241, 08-Feb-2011)

Chile’s Childhood is the virtual exhibition, with hopes of becoming a museum, of a private collection of old recordings related to the history and geography of present day Chile. With the exception of a few items it dates back to sometime before 1800.

These recordings are kept on a Danish island called Sjælland and to be more specific; inside a safe-deposit box made of armoured steel which, according to tests carried out in Denmark and Norway, should  be capable of tolerating 1 000 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes, without its contents being harmed.

The recordings that you see here are a kind of photo album of the childhood that Chile was going to have.  They correspond to an image of the way in which the infant nation of a new continent was perceived and imagined by some of the greatest figures on the Old Continent.
