Chonchi Museum of Traditions(Reads: 1175, 30-Jun-2004)This is a large house dating from the beginnings of the 20th Century, filled with furniture and ornaments from the 1920s, donated by families of Chonchi, which recreate the atmosphere and look of an interior of the beginning of the century. It was opened in 1996 by the Center for Progress and Development of Chonchi.
On the first floor there is the dining room, the living room, another room and the kitchen, with an interior patio that holds a traditional stove, with utensils of the age, and a workshop where wooden padlocks are made. On the second floor there is an important exhibition of ancient objects and a collection of photographs from that age, lit up by a huge window with views out into the streets of Chonchi. The museum is located in Chonchi, at 116 calle Centenario, and is open from Monday to Sunday from 09:00 – 13:00 hrs and from 15:00 – 18:30 hrs.
